5 ways to improve your sports facilities social media

Regardless of the size of your venue, or the type, interacting with your customers and members on social media has never been more important.

Social media is really effective way to grow your bookings and gain new customers, as well as responding to queries and providing customers with information. In fact 67% of people use platforms like Facebook and Twitter to seek their information!

It’s never been more important to have a great social media presence, so here’s what you can do today to improve yours.

1. Update your information

Think of your social media account like the cover of your book! It’s often the first impression people get of you, so it’s important that the information up there is accurate and up-to-date.

On Facebook you have a whole page for adding information. Click on your ‘About’ page to make sure that it’s filled in fully and that the information is accurate!

For Twitter and Instagram this means updating your ‘Bio’, which is a short bit of text at the top of your profile. It should make it clear who you are and what you do.

2. Use multiple social media platforms

Different platforms serve different purposes and have varying audiences. This means that using multiple platforms is the best way to ensure you’re connecting with everyone!

Twitter - Twitter is best for day-to-day updates. You can post here multiple times a day and it’s a great platform for connecting with people and growing your audience.

Facebook - Facebook connects with a slightly older audience than the other platforms. It’s recommended not to post more than once a day. You can share a variety of posts here, from videos to photos to text.

Instagram - Instagram is the most effective way of reaching a younger audience. It’s a visual platform, so it’s a great place to share photos.

3. Post regularly

We’ve all searched pages online only to find it outdated with the last post from over a year ago! If it’s been a few months, or years, since your last post it can give the impression that you’re not open for business.

Your social media presence is just like the cover of your book, so make sure it’s giving a great impression of your sports facilities. Post relevant content to it regularly and keep your information up-to-date.

So if you’re not updating your account it’s better to remove it than have it sit idle!

4. Schedule posts in advance

Managing your social media should be simple and shouldn’t eat up your time! The best way to have it running effectively, without having to constantly check in on it, is to schedule your posts in advance.

Hootesuite is a free, easy way to do this. In an hour you can schedule a few weeks worth of posts to your different platforms. Just choose the date and time you want them to post and it will do the rest!

5. Create good graphics

Having good graphic design on your social media gives people a great of impression. Don’t worry though, you don’t need to be a Photoshop pro.

Canva provides thousands of templates that can give you a professional feel. They’re easy to edit and customise, plus it’s free!
